Liverpool take to front line for Arsenal star’s £9m signature

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is reportedly looking at signing Arsenal star Gael Clichy as the Anfield club looks to make up to 22 signings this summer.

American publication NESN claims that Clichy has stalled contract talks with Arsenal, as the Gunners look down the barrel of a sixth straight season without a trophy.

And with Liverpool looking to challenge for trophies over the next year or two, as well as boasting promising form in the Barclays Premier League at the moment, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish reportedly believes he can snag the Frenchman away from Arsenal in the summer transfer period.

NESN has valued Clichy’s signature at £9 million, and if the amount is accurate it would be a bargain for Liverpool, which have a reported £50 million budget for the summer.

Clichy has been a star for Arsenal this season, and would be a perfect solution for Liverpool’s current left back problem. The 25 year old has spent eight years at Arsenal and has made 186 appearances for the club so far, but Liverpool reportedly believe that they can coax Clichy into making a big move up north, if the price and promise of trophies is right.
