Manchester United travel to Germany tonight looking to beat both Schalke and history, having lost to opposition from the country four times in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Dimitar Berbatov misses out on the trip with a groin injury, although Nemanja Vidic and Park-Ji Sung both return after being rested for the weekend clash against Everton.

Wayne Rooney will lead the line at the Veltins-Arena, with Javier Hernandez also pushing for a start after scoring the winner at Old Trafford against the Toffees.

Edwin Van der Sar is set to feature in goal for his 13th semi-final in the competition, while Spanish legend Raul is set to lead the line for the Bundesliga outfit.

The former Real Madrid forward is the tournament's record goal-scorer, and is the talisman for a talented young crop.

Reported Manchester United target Manue Neuer starts between the sticks for the currently 10th placed side in their domestic league, who must be taken seriously following their 7-3 demolition of Inter Milan in the quarter-finals.
