Manchester United are keen to enter discussions with Inter Milan over the proposed signing of Julio Cesar, it has been claimed.
The Brazilian goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Manchester for some time and now, according to Tuttosport, the Barclays Premier League leaders want to open negotiations with the Serie A giants.
Inter, though, are said to be reluctant to sell the 31-year-old but tribalfootball.com reports he is 'excited' by the alleged interest from United.
Cesar is just one of a number of 'keepers to have been linked with the soon to be vacated No.1 jersey at Old Trafford with Edwin Van der Sar set to retire at the end of the season.
Atletico Madrid's David De Gea appears to be the favourite to succeed the Dutchman at Old Trafford, with Schalke shot-stopper Manuel Neuer also a one-time target for United.
The German gloveman was thought to have been United's first choice to replace Van der Sar, but the 25-year-old has instead opted to join Bayern Munich at the end of the campaign.
Neuer showed United what they were missing out on last night, as he kept Wayne Rooney and Co. at bay with a string of stunning saves in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash.
Ryan Giggs eventually broke the deadlock after a period of extreme United dominance, and Sir Alex Ferguosn was quick to pay tribute to Neuer at the end of proceedings.
"We know he's going to Bayern, he was absolutely fantastic," said the United boss. "That was one of the best performances from a goalie I've ever seen against us.
"Funnily enough I think it was when Javier scored his offside goal [in the 50th minute] that was decisive - suddenly the players thought they could actually score against this guy."
