Aston Villa duo Brad Friedel and Nigel Reo-Coker's future will be resolved soon, despite the absence of Gerard Houllier.
The pair are out of contract in the summer and could leave Villa Park for nothing if their future isn't resolved.
With Houllier away with a heart condition, caretaker manager Gary McAllister says the future of their star players, including Robert Pires, will be resolved.
“I think we need to be sat down with Gerard, the chairman and chief executive Paul Faulkner because they are very important for people’s lives,” said McAllister. “We’re aware of the situation and it will all be sorted.
“There has been no direct dialogue with these guys yet but I’m sure they understand the situation.”
While the club will fight of the future of the trio, John Carew, Isaisah Osbourne and Moustapha Salifou will all be allowed to leave come the end of the season.
