Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher was making his comeback for the reserves against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Thursday evening.

The Scotland international, 27, has been out of action with a virus following the defeat by Liverpool on March 6.

It is a boost for manager Alex Ferguson ahead of a busy run-in for his side.

United are heading for the Champions League final after beating Schalke in the first leg of the semi-final in midweek.

They are also on course to regain the Barclays Premier League crown with Arsenal next up on Sunday.

Fletcher was to be joined in the reserves by several players with first-team experience - Wes Brown, Gabriel Obertan, Bebe and Ben Amos.
