Baines leveller denies lowly Latics

Published Add your comment

Former Wigan star Leighton Baines smashed in a late penalty to deny his old club a vital victory in the Barclays Premier League as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton.

Relegation-threatened Latics looked on course for three much-needed points as they clung onto a 21st-minute lead given to them by Charles N'Zogbia at the DW Stadium.

Yet after Ali Al Habsi saved one Mikel Arteta spot-kick, their luck ran out as Baines struck from 12 yards on 77 minutes following a Hugo Rodallega handball.
