Manchester United striker Michael Owen could be on his way to Championship side Derby County.
The England international has fallen way down the pecking order since joining the cub in 2009, with the form of Javier Hernandez limiting opportunities.
Having been linked with Bristol City last summer, another Championship side in Derby looks set to launch a bid for United's Owen.
Owen is out of contract at the end of this season and United have yet to decide whether to offer him a new deal after Hernandez, Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney's form this season.
But the biggest expenditure for the Rams would be Owen's wage demands, but the club are preparing a deal worth close to £1.5 million as Nigel Clough, a former Liverpool player, attempts to build a squad capable to making a genuine push to join United in the Barclays Premier League.
