Napoli have made contact with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential summer move for Wilson Palacios, according to reports.

The Honduran international has found himself on the fringes of Harry Redknapp's Spurs side for the later stages of this term, and reports coming out of Italy claim the Naples-based side have stepped up their interest.

TalkSPORT goes on to claim Walter Mazzarri is willing to offer £9 million to bring the player to the Stadio San Paolo, although Redknapp brought the player to the club for £12 million back in 2009.

With the Italians looking to strengthen their squad ahead of a potential Champions League campaign next term, Spurs could be tempted in to selling the player after the emergence of Brazilian defensive midfielder Sandro at White Hart Lane.

Redknapp, Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul have all been singing the praises of the former Internacional star, and his rapid rise could open the door to a move for the 26-year-old former Wigan player.

A 71-cap international, Palacios has experienced top level football at both domestic and international level, and it would be a tough decision for the Tottenham Hotspur boss to let the player leave north London.
