Everton starlet Jack Rodwell says he is happy at Everton and won’t be paying attention to transfer speculation, despite reported interest from Manchester United.
"You can't really pay that [the transfer rumours] any attention, you can't let off-the-field antics affect you on the pitch so you just have to have to concentrate on your own game," Rodwell said to Sky Sports News.
"As long as you have got the right people around, which I have, it is easy to put [transfer speculation] to the back of your mind.
"Obviously it's flattering, but like I said I just put it to the back of my mind and I am playing for Everton Football Club and I will always give 100 per cent for them.
"I am an Everton footballer and I enjoy playing for Everton so I am happy to do that."
Manchester United have reportedly been courting Rodwell for some time now, with Sir Alex Ferguson seeing the youngster as a good addition to lowering the average age of the Manchester United squad.
Sky Sports had claimed that Manchester United might pay £20 million for the youngster, which would be a good sum for Everton manager David Moyes to use on new players in the summer, but Moyes insists that he would prefer to build a team over time rather than buy and sell players continually.
“I am reluctant to sell Rodwell because I’m trying to build a football team, not dismantle one. I just couldn’t imagine Liverpool really wanting to sell one of their own, Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher, too easily,” Moyes recently told reporters.
