Sunderland have confirmed that Kieran Richardson has suffered a stress fracture of his left fibula and will be out for at least three weeks, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

The former England midfielder, who has also operated at full-back and just behind a lone striker for the Black Cats this season, sustained the injury in the 3-2 defeat at home to West Brom on April 9, and joins the long list of walking wounded at the Stadium of Light.

Manager Steve Bruce is without a recognised senior striker for tomorrow's Barclays Premier League clash at Bolton with Asamoah Gyan, Fraizer Campbell and on-loan Danny Welbeck all absent.

Midfielders Lee Cattermole and Jordan Henderson are struggling to be fit for the trip to the Reebok Stadium while defender Titus Bramble is another long-term injury victim, as is goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
