Thomas Hitzlsperger's late drive saved West Ham from a painful defeat in a 1-1 draw with Blackburn which kept the fight for Barclays Premier League survival alive for both sides.
Blackburn looked set for a win which would have virtually assured their safety when Jason Roberts converted a Brett Emerton cross after 12 minutes.
But Avram Grant's men earned a reprieve when the former Aston Villa man cracked in from outside the box with just 12 minutes remaining.
