Gulls claim play-off spot

Torquay finished in the final npower League Two play-off berth despite suffering a 3-1 defeat at Rotherham.

Ryan Taylor put Rotherham ahead after 10 minutes before Chris Zebroski equalised for the Gulls. The parity lasted only a couple of minutes as Danny Harrison fired the hosts back in front. Oliver Banks sealed the win when he added a third with 10 minutes remaining.

Defender Dean Winnard scored a late equaliser for Accrington who drew 1-1 against Burton, the Brewers went ahead through Russell Penn's goal at the start of the second half but Winnard replied for Stanley - who face Stevenage in the play-offs.

Dario Grady's Crewe side finished 10th after an impressive 5-1 win at Bradford. Shaun Miller and Danny Shelley scored twice as Crewe ran riot, Clayton Donaldson scoring the other, with Jake Speight's penalty proving mere consolation for the Bantams.

Hereford were not mathematically safe but a 1-1 draw at Macclesfield proved to be enough.

Ryan Green gave the visitors the lead just before the half-hour mark but were pegged back after Stuart Fleetwood was sent off for bringing Matthew Hamshaw down in the box and Lewis Chalmers converted the penalty.

Northampton had been involved in the relegation battle for several weeks but a 2-1 win at Morecambe saw the Cobblers finish above today's opponents in 16th place.

Goals from Kevin Thornton and Ben Tozer put the away side in control with Nile Cowperthwaite's consolation coming in the final minute.

Rock bottom Stockport scored in the 10th minute of stoppage time to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Cheltenham.

Brian Smikle had put the visitors ahead midway through the first half before Andy Gallinagh conceded a late penalty which was scored by Greg Tansey.
