Stevenage boss Graham Westley was delighted to see his side secure a play-off spot with a dramatic 3-3 draw against Bury.
The hosts led twice through goals from Scott Laird and Craig Reid but were pegged back by Steven Schumacher and Nicky Ajose and when Schumacher scored again to put the Shakers ahead it looked bleak for Stevenage, but substitute Ben May levelled just three minutes later.
"Well I think that game had everyone on the edge of their seats - It had everything," Westley said. "Of course it's a major relief that we've managed to sneak into the play-off positions, but overall I think the lads have worked so very hard all season and we deserve to be there."
He added: "We knew full well it would be a very tough challenge for us, even though some people may have felt otherwise as Bury had already secured their promotion.
"We prepared hard during the week and we got ourselves off to a flyer early in the game.
"On another day we could have scored six or seven, but at least we've created chances and looked lively all day. That bodes well for what awaits us in the play-offs now."
Bury caretaker boss Richie Barker was also in awe of the game's entertainment value, which left both sets of fans wanting more.
"It was breathtaking at times. Both sides created chance after chance and the game was a real spectacle for the fans of both sides," he said. "It's a real highlight for us to finish on and I think our fans have enjoyed it. Once again they've travelled a good distance in their numbers, and they've had plenty to shout about again.
"It's been a whirlwind of emotion for me since I took over. I couldn't have asked for any more really.
"We can go away and everyone at the club can enjoy our success for a little while, but then what happens after that I'm not too sure at this time. I'm not really the one to ask at the moment. The players deserve every credit though. They've put the work in both on match days and during the week in training, so they deserve this success."
