Heskey waits for possible FA action

Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey must wait to find out whether he will face further disciplinary action after his behaviour in the home clash with Wigan.

The former England player barged into referee Mike Jones during the first half and escaped with a yellow card. Heskey will not receive any further punishment for that outburst from the Football Association as Jones is deemed to have taken sufficient action as he saw the incident and acted.

An angry Heskey had to be restrained by team-mates and staff after leaving the pitch and Villa caretaker boss Gary McAllister said: "I think he was a wee bit robust and maybe waiting to speak to the referee again."

He added:"Was anything said to him (by the Wigan players)? No, absolutely not. I have spoken to him on that."

Regarding Heskey's actions on the pitch towards Jones, McAllister said: "It was very uncharacteristic of Emile.

"He was feeling he wasn't getting protection from the referee.

"He felt the centre-backs went into the back of him and he was looking for a wee bit of help from the referee.

"He didn't get it but it's an over-the-top reaction."
