Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly identified Wesley Sneijder as his ideal summer signing.
The Inter Milan playmaker is thought to be holding out for a move away from the San Siro at the end of the season, and a switch to the Barclays Premier League leaders appears to be his most likely destination.
According to the Daily Mail, Ferguson has told United chiefs that Sneijder is his first-choice to replace Old Trafford icon Paul Scholes, who has been tipped to retire at the end of the season.
It has been claimed £30 million will be enough to bring the 26-year-old to Old Trafford and, according to a United 'insider', a deal is likely to be concluded should it be sanctioned by the Glazer family.
"It’s up to the owners now," the source told the Daily Mail. "Sir Alex wants the player — it’s just a matter of agreeing to the wage demands."
The Dutchman has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford for some time and now it would appear he will make the long-awaited move to United, should the proposed package suit all parties.
