Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena would be open to a move to Manchester United, should the opportunity present itself.

The 26-year-old has been linked with the Barclays Premier League leaders for a number of months and impressed against the Red Devils during the Champions League group stages.

According to L'Equipe, United see the France international as a potential replacement for Ryan Giggs, as the 37-year-old nears the end of his illustrious Old Trafford career.

And, when asked last weekend about whether he would consider a move to Old Trafford, Valbuena - nicknamed the 'Little Bicycle' - joked that he would cycle to Manchester if Sir Alex Ferguson showed any genuine interest.

He told Canal +: "Manchester United? I would cycle there."

TalkSPORT had previously claimed that United had been urged to sign Valbuena by former Old Trafford hero Eric Cantona.
