Moyes: Neville is irreplaceable

Everton manager David Moyes has lavished praise on captain Phil Neville after the club's victory over Manchester City.

Neville instigated The Toffees' fightback on Saturday after Yaya Toure's first-half goal and provided the cross for Leon Osman's winner.

And Moyes, who was close to losing the utility player to Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, claims Neville is irreplaceable.

“He has been terrific,” said Moyes.

“He is a great all round captain and leader. He is irreplaceable in many ways, I don’t think there are many of his kind around.”

“Mentally he looks as if he is fine. Some players at this moment in time will look as if they are jaded but he is fine. Phil looks as if he has had a new lease of life going into the middle of the park.

“I think he is enjoying it.”
