Manchester United target Axel Witsel is reportedly seeking a summer move to the Barclays Premier League.

The Standard Liege midfielder is also attracting interest from Serie A and the Bundesliga but, according to talkSPORT, he is 'eager' to move to England and is willing to resist other offers in order to secure a switch to his desired destination.

It had previously been reported by TEAMtalk that Sir Alex Ferguson had dispatched scouts to compile a report on the 22-year-old with a view to bringing him to Old Trafford during the transfer window.

Along with United, Liverpool have also been tracking the €9 million-rated Belgium international but their interest seems to have waned.

This would appear to clear the path for United to make their move for Witsel, as Ferguson looks to bring midfield reinforcements to Old Trafford in the summer.

With Paul Scholes set to retire, Owen Hargreaves still an injury concern and Ryan Giggs approaching the end of his career, Ferguson is known to been keen to bolster his ranks during the closed season.
