Reported Arsenal target Florian Lejeune will leave FC Istres for a 'very big team' before the end of the week, his agent has claimed.
The 19-year-old is being hailed as the 'new Laurent Blanc' in France and has gathered numerous admirers for his imperious displays in Ligue 2.
Lejuene has frequently been linked with Arsenal over the past few months as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his relatively error-prone defence.
The Arsenal boss is thought to be keen to reinforce his back line during the summer transfer window after growing increasingly frustrated with the form of his current crop.
Although Laurent Koscielny and Johan Djourou have shown signs of forming a decent partnership, they have performed inconsistently at the heart of the Arsenal defence.
Sébastien Squillaci has failed to live up to expectations since joining Arsenal last summer, which has also prompted Wenger to address the depth of his defensive department.
With Real Madrid and Manchester United also reportedly chasing Lejeune, a deal for the Frenchman would represent quite a coup for Arsenal - and the the youngster's destination will be confirmed in the coming days.
“We will sign a contract in three of four days with a very big team,” his representative Claude Cauvy told Sport.co.uk.
“The club asked to remain anonymous until after the weekend. It is a very big club, in the top five. I think the contract will be tied up by the end of Saturday or Sunday. We have offers from five or six clubs and I think the player has decided who he will join.
“The team have asked me not to say anything but we are hopeful a deal can be done.”
