Brighton boss Gus Poyet has added a centre-half to his summer shopping list after injuries to Tommy Elphick and Adam El-Abd.
Elphick will miss the start of next season after being ruled out for up to six months with the ruptured Achilles he suffered against Noss County on Saturday and El-Abd is still on crutches with a broken bone in his foot.
Poyet told The Argus: "You are always aware of the market but I was not looking specifically for a centre-half."
He added: "Now it is very important. I cannot take a risk waiting for Adam and Tommy to get better.
"The beginning of the season is very important for us."
El-Abd is expected to be fit by the time the new season kicks off.
