Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic wants to use this weekend's Barclays Premier League encounter with Newcastle United as a building block to kick-start a return to winning ways next campaign.
The 27-year-old Serbian stopper has targeted three points against the Magpies at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
And Ivanovic is determined to send Blues fans home happy after recent disappointments when Chelsea all but surrendered the title to Manchester United after defeat at Old Trafford last weekend.
"I think our fans deserve to have a good game from us," Ivanovic said.
"Unfortunately we didn't win a trophy this season and now we have to show the fans they can believe in us for next year.
"We have to say 'thank you' with this game to our fans because they deserve it."
Three points for Carlo Ancelotti's side this weekend will almost guarantee second spot with Chelsea three points clear of Arsenal in the Barclays Premier League and a superior goal difference to boast.
"It is a difficult moment when you know you don't have any chance but it is important that we are strong and ready for this game.
"We are not expecting an easy game because Newcastle will want to show they are a good team and please their fans, so we have to be ready 100 percent.
"Next season for us starts with this game, and we have to start everything again and be better so we can challenge for the title again."
