Northampton have parted company with midfielder Liam Davis after boss Gary Johnson confirmed he will not be offered a new deal.

The former Coventry player made 74 starts and 17 appearances from the bench during his three-year stay at Sixfields, scoring nine goals.

"Liam will not be offered a new deal," said Johnson. "We agreed we would get things concluded by Friday of this week and we can now confirm Liam will be moving on."

As Johnson looks to reshape his squad during the close-season, he added: "We hope to be able to announce some news on other players early next week.

"I gave Chris Dunn and Guillem Bauza until Friday to let me know their thoughts and plans and to convince me they wanted to be part of our plans for next season.

"That was the deadline I set them to come back to me, but it will be early next week before we can make any public announcement on either of those two."
