Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill has warned Hermann Hreidarsson he will not wait forever for the veteran defender to agree a new contract.

Cash-strapped Pompey could struggle to meet Hreidarsson's wage demands and Cotterill says he will simply look elsewhere for defensive recruits if the situation is not resolved.

"If the ones out of contract don't want to sign because they want more money, well that's fine," Cotterill told The News.

"But how long am I going to hang on and how long are they going to hang on? Not long because if I find somebody I will sign them instead. It's as simple as that.

"But they probably know the situation at the moment, therefore they can push the boat a little while longer.

"What is happening at the minute, though, is unrealistic for someone who is going to be 37 this summer."
