Leeds United and Southampton will go head-to-head for the signature of former Liverpool youngster Victor Palsson according to skysports.com.
The 21-year-old Hibernian central defender has caught the eye after a string of impressive performances in the SPL this season.
Palsson only left Anfield in January after the Reds deemed the Finland Under-21 international surplus to requirements at Liverpool.
He has made 16 first-team appearances for Hibs, enhancing his reputation with a series of commanding displays at Easter Road.
With Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish looking to strengthen in his defensive department, the decision to allow Palsson – a highly rated youngster who has captained the Reds' reserve side to leave, seems all the more baffling.
Saints boss Nigel Adkins is keen to bolster his St Mary’s squad as he prepares for life back in the Championship, while Leeds boss Simon Grayson also wants to add to his Elland Road outfit.
Hibs would be reluctant to lose their shining starlet just six months after signing him from Liverpool, but will find it hard to turn down a big-money offer from either Leeds or Southampton if either club steps up their interest.
