Ipswich boss chasing gem of a striker

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is determined to recruit a top striker after Doncaster rejected bids for Billy Sharp and James Coppinger.

Jewell has set his sights on signing a proven goalscorer ahead of next season as he looks to build a squad capable of mounting a promotion challenge.

"We made what we felt was a fair offer for the two players. Doncaster turned it down. That's their prerogative," Jewell told the club's official website.

"We feel they have the qualities that will add something to the squad we have here but they are just two of a number of transfer targets we have.

"We're talking to other clubs and we will see what develops from there.

"I want a goalscorer or two who will do anything to score a goal. I don't think we have that devilment, that type of player who will kick his granny to score a goal."
