Morecambe takes new backroom look

New Morecambe boss Jim Bentley has appointed Ken McKenna and Stewart Drummond to his backroom staff.

Former TNS manager McKenna will serve as Bentley's assistant and Shrimps midfielder Drummond will take over as first-team coach and reserve-team manager. McKenna was a prolific goalscorer with Telford and as a manager he led TNS into Europe by winning the League of Wales three times.

Last year he took over as manager of Altrincham and almost steered them to safety in the Blue Square Bet Premier League. Bentley said: "I am really looking forward to working with both of them as we work towards next season."

Meanwhile, Morecambe have shown the door to nine players as they look to rebuild after a disappointing 2010/11 campaign.

The Shrimps will not be offering new deals to Scott Brown, Tony Capaldi, Gavin Clarke, Stuart Hendrie, Andy Holdsworth, Chris Shuker, Laurie Walker, Neil Wainwright and Chris Wraighte.

In addition to their departures, striker Paul Mullin has retired.
