Boss Billy Davies has already started planning for a third consecutive promotion push after Nottingham Forest suffered play-off agony for the second year running.

Following a goalless draw at the City Ground on Thursday, the Reds travelled to Swansea in confident mood but slipped to a 3-1 defeat in south Wales. Davies, who saw his side defeated by Blackpool at this stage of the play-offs last season, is about to enter the final year on his contract.

There has been speculation about the Scot's future due to his stormy relationship with the club's board, but Davies insists he is fully committed to leading another promotion push. "The thing that Billy Davies has is desire, passion and commitment. We have started planning already. We will dust ourselves down now and start looking at next season," he said.

"I am looking forward to the challenge. We have to make the right changes, we have to get the balance right. We have to look at the whole club and freshen up things. It will depend on budgets and things what the changes are.

"But I am very excited. I am very optimistic. We will learn from this. We will get them back in and get them ready. Then we go again and the target is promotion."
