Manchester United winger Nani says Sir Alex Ferguson is the biggest influence on his career.

The Portuguese international has been instrumental this season as United claimed their 19th league title and face Barcelona in the Champions League final next weekend.

And Nani believes the Scot has been vital in his development.

"He has been very important for me," Nani said.

"Everybody knows, since I have arrived at United, the opportunities he has given me. He is the most important person in my career.

"If I am doing well at the moment it is because of him and the opportunities he had given me. And if I am showing a better side to my game it is because he has shown me how to improve and what I have to do."

The 24-year-old also insists that Ferguson is unlikely to retire anytime soon, as he closes in on his third European Cup.

"He is still doing his job very well. At this moment he feels very confident and fit."

"He believes that he can go to the training ground and give everything ― and as long as he does that, he will stay. He loves football and winning trophies. And that’s what he’s doing now."
