Former Liverpool favourite John Aldridge believes Luis Suarez should be named the Reds' Player of the Season, despite only being at Anfield for four months.
Since moving to Merseyside from Amsterdam in a deal worth £22.8 million, Suarez has scored four times and laid on five others in only 12 appearances.
The 24-year-old's fantastic form - along with the return of Kenny Dalglish - has seen Liverpool transformed from relegation-flirters into European contenders in a matter of months.
Suarez's performances have been the driving force behind the Liverpool resurgence, and Aldridge believes the Uruguayan has done enough to take top individual honours at the end of the season.
"I can understand why some people have gone for Lucas Leiva because he has been much improved and has answered his critics," said Aldridge.
"Dirk Kuyt has been great in the second half of the season, while Jamie Carragher has been a model of consistency at the back.
"But for me, Suarez has lit the place up. We were all in need of a lift at the end of January and he has provided it.
"Suarez has been magnificent and I've loved watching him."
