Robins boss denies bids for Maynard

Bristol City have received no offers for star striker Nicky Maynard, according to manager Keith Millen.

The 24-year-old, who is in talks over a new contract at Ashton Gate, has been linked with a handful of Premier League clubs. Maynard's current deal expires in 12 months so City could cash in on their club record £2.25million signing this summer.

However, Millen insists the club have yet to receive a single enquiry about any of their players and he told the Evening Post: "I can honestly say there has been no interest shown in Nicky. I have not received a single phone call and there have been no offers made to the club."

He added: "There is always going to be speculation where players like Nicky are concerned and I don't mind that - it means my players are doing well. But, in this case, it is nothing more than speculation.

"I read in the papers that this club and that club are supposed to be interested, yet they never seem to pick up the phone and speak to us.

"I recognise it as part and parcel of the game these days and it is something managers have to put up with, even though it is not particularly helpful.

"But there have been no offers for any of our senior players so far and I hope it stays that way."
