United star £6m signing would 'fit' at Barcelona

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has praised the efforts of young Manchester United star Javier Hernandez, and the Argentian believes Hernandez would fit in well at Camp Nou.

"Hernandez could fit us,” Messi told reporters.

“He speaks Spanish and has a great style. It is difficult to predict what he does in a fight next, and that's what we see as a strength of our team.”

Purchased for just £6 million in August last year, Hernandez has gone from strength to strength with Manchester United, and currently has scored 20 goals across all competitions.

The 22-year-old has equaled Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of goals in his debut season, and even Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed surprised at how well Hernandez has performed.

Last night, upon winning the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, Hernandez said he was both humbled and surprised at his success.

“I dreamt about playing for Manchester United and thought perhaps in my first season I’d play for the Reserves with maybe a few minutes in the first team,” The Mexico international said.

“But thanks to the boss and all my team-mates I have played a little bit more!

"It’s an unbelievable feeling to have won the league title,"

Messi also praised Wayne Rooney, who after having some trouble finding form this season, has become a star once more for Manchester United, and will be a big danger when Barcelona take on the English giants in the Champions League final.

"Wayne Rooney could also be possible [as a fit for Barcelona]," Messi said

“He has been playing at the highest level of recent years - I am sure that his style in no time he could adapt to the Spanish conditions."
