Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Lopez has signed for Manchester United according to teammate Joan Capdevilla, who posted the news on Twitter.
However, this was quickly denied by the Spanish side - reports Sportyou.es - after it emerged the duo were involved in stag night hi-jinx as the shot-stopper prepares to get married.
Capdevilla tweeted: "Diego, recently signed by Manchester United, good luck friend, the best is leaving."
Although Lopez won't be moving to Old Trafford this summer, United are actively searching for a successor to Edwin van der Sar, who will retire at the end of the season.
Ateltico Madrid youngster David De Gea appears to be the favourite to join United, while Ajax No.1 Maarten Stekelenburg has been tipped to swap the Amsterdam ArenA for Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson has also revealed he will make at least two more acquisitions during the transfer window to further enhance the quality of his United squad.
