Hill dampens exit rumours

Rochdale manager Keith Hill has dismissed speculation linking himself and assistant David Flitcroft with a move away from Spotland, insisting: "We will be here at the start of the season."

Hill has been linked to the vacancies at Sheffield United and Barnsley, with the Tykes on Friday given permission to make an official approach as they look to replace Mark Robins.

Dale's hierarchy are desperately keen to keep hold of his services, with the board of directors only granting clearance for discussions at Oakwell in line with a pre-existing agreement which is in place with Hill.

But Hill himself is keen to stress that all the talk of him leaving the League One club is only hampering his efforts in the summer transfer market.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "I've spoken to a number of players we're interested in but several of them are asking 'will you be there?'. They are interested in playing for myself and David Flitcroft and want to know if they sign will we be staying.

"It doesn't help with so much speculation flying around.

"As I told them, it's mere speculation - we've had it before with the Crystal Palace job - and we will be here at the start of the season."
