Zenden says goodbye with goal

West Ham's six-year stay in the Barclays Premier League ended with a whimper as Boudewijn Zenden signed off from Sunderland by helping them to an easy 3-0 win at Upton Park.

Veteran midfielder Zenden's mistimed header sailed over Robert Green in the 17th minute of what was his final match before quitting the Black Cats this summer.

Stephane Sessegnon's pin-point 20-yarder and Cristian Riveros' stoppage-time third sealed the victory in the second half, during which the Hammers fans demonstrated their gallows humour with more than one ironic conga.
