The Independent is reporting that Chelsea have drawn up a list of five players to chase in the summer transfer period, as Roman Abramovich becomes more and more desperate to win a coveted Champions League trophy.
Budgets have flown out the window for the summer as Chelsea look to shore up any holes in their positions before fair play rules come into full force.
Didier Drogba looks set to exit the Stamford Bridge club, after losing game time to £50 million summer signing Fernando Torres. With the move said to be in the vicinity of tens of millions of pounds, Abramovich and the incoming Chelsea manager will have some serious cash to play with on the transfer market.
While last season only two players were brought into the club, Chelsea have reportedly drawn up a list that includes Brazilian starlet Neymar; Belgian Racing Genk youngster Kevin de Bryne; Romelu Lukaku, who has been dubbed the next Drogba; 23 year old Gregory van der Wiel; and a back up goal keeper for Petr Cech, who won the award for Chelsea player of the year just last week.
While Ancelotti was sacked as Chelsea manager, with no replacement manager brought in as yet, Abramovich has always been vocal in who should be on the Chelsea squad. With this in mind, whichever manager takes over will inherit the transfer wish list from the owner.
