Defoe out of England squad

England striker Jermain Defoe will miss England's Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland after pulling out of the squad with injury, according to ESPN soccernet.

The Tottenham Hotspur's player has suffered a 'small fracture' and will not feature in the June qualifier.

Fabio Capello is already without Wayne Rooney, due to suspension, and Andy Carroll, due to injury and is strongly considering not calling up a replacement.

"We are thinking about a replacement for Defoe, but we might decide there is little point. There just isn't that many strikers to choose from and we have the strikers we shall need already in the squad," an ESPNsoccernet source said.

If the Italian boss does chose to add another striker to the squad, the likes of Gabriel Agbonlahor, Kevin Davies and Danny Welbeck, who all have caps under Capello, could come into contention.
