As the transfer window moves closer to opening, Manchester City have made an offer to bring Gary Cahill to the Eastlands club which includes £20 million and Nedum Onuoha, the Daily Mirror reports.

Cahill has been a star for Bolton, saving the side from falling into this season's relegation battle. Arsenal have been chasing the defender since the turn of the year, with Arsene Wenger admitting his admiration for Cahill in the January transfer window.

“I think Gary Cahill is a very good player but I cannot tell you more,” the Arsenal manager said at the time.

“We like to keep our transfer negotiations very secret. It puts more pressure on when you go public so you understand we don't want to speak publicly about that.”

But now Manchester City have found a way to coax the player from Wenger’s hands, with Roberto Mancini offering Onuoha, who is currently on loan to Sunderland, as well as £20 million to land Cahill.

While Arsenal are particularly interested in securing Cahill, they won’t be able to compete with a deal like the one Mancini is proposing. And the Daily Mirror is also claiming that Cahill may be able to speak to Manchester City within the next week about a possible agreement.
