Belgian stars Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne look set to be the first Cheslea signings of the summer, despite Roman Abramovich not having found a manager for the Blues yet.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Abramovich has the stars at the top his transfer wish list, and is willing to pay out £34 million to snare the pair.
Lukaku, who is valued at £22 million, has been dubbed the ‘next Drogba’ because of his amazing talents at such a young age. The 18-year-old has been a star for Belgian club Anderlecht this season, and recently admitted on his twitter that he is a Chelsea fan. The youngster also looks more likely to want to head to London rather than a club like Liverpool or Manchester City.
De Bryne, meanwhile, is another youngster that Chelsea are looking to get their hands on. The 19-year-old’s domestic club Genk are holding out on a deal said to be worth £12 million, with rumours rife that Chelsea are planning on sending the youngster to Lukaku’s club and Genk’s rivals Anderlecht on loan next season.
Yesterday it was revealed by the Independent that Abramovich had a list of five possible signings to chase down, including Lukaku and De Bruyne, as well as Gregory van der Wiel, Neymar and a back up keeper for Petr Cech.
However, now it’s looking like the two Belgian wonderkids are top of the bill for Abramovich’s transfer plans.
De Bruyne warned Chelsea that they would face competition to snare his signature in the summer.
"Apparently there is already a battle to win my transfer," he said.
"We'll see what happens. I feel fine at Genk, but sometimes you cannot say no."
