Former Chelsea manger Glenn Hoddle has revealed the side that will be taking on Fulham on Sunday at Craven Cottage in a special event legends match.
The tournament, named Football40, is introducing a different style of football, whereby teams play a 40 minute games. Chelsea will take on Fulham, and Arsenal will take on Tottenham, and then the respective winners will face off over around three hours in total.
Gianfranco Zola had already reportedly agreed to feature in the matches, and has now confirmed his attendance and will captain the Blues.
Peter Bonetti, who made over 700 appearances for Chelsea, has also agreed to take part in the game. Bonetti was such a stand out in the 1960s and 70s that one of the greatest ever superstars in football, Pele, once revealed the Chelsea man was one of his top goalkeepers.
"The three greatest goalkeepers I have ever seen are Gordon Banks, Lev Yashin and Peter Bonetti." The Brazilian said.
1980’s star Kerry Dixon, now 49, has also confirmed he will play, after scoring 147 goals in 335 matches in the 1980s. Ken Monkou, as well as Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink and Tore Andre Flo are also set to appear.
Pat Nevin, who had a celebrated career at Chelsea and numerous other clubs, will also feature, with the 47-year-old now involved in media but still raring to have a go on the football field, particularly against Fulham, where he scored his first goal for the Stamford Bridge club in a 5-3 derby victory.
The games will kick off at 3pm on Sunday and tickets start at £10 for adults and £5 for children. For more information visit www.football40.com.
