Stoke City's Player of the Year Robert Huth is tipping Ryan Shawcross to become an England star.

The duo were on the wrong side of a defeat by Manchester City in the FA Cup final, but were part of a back-four that conceded the second fewest goals at home in the Premier League

And Huth believes the his centre-back partner deserve international recognition.

"Ever since I've been here, Ryan's been great for the club and has been playing well," he said.

"He got in the England squad last year and I think he should be more of a regular in the squad than he is."

Shawcross did earn a call-up for the friendly against Egypt, but was an unused substitute.

The form of the likes of Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Joleon Lescott and Gary Cahill means the former Manchester United defender's opportunities have been limited.
