Arsenal star Andrey Arshavin says he is not planning on leaving the club in the summer, despite recent reports linking the Russian captain to Zenit St Petersburg.
"The manager wants to continue working with me,” Arshavin said, as reported by The Sun.
Arsene Wenger has recently reportedly threatened to send some players packing after another disappointed season at Arsenal, and with Arshavin’s connections to Russia, speculation has been growing that the 30-year-old might return to his homeland.
With Arshavin training at Zenit St Petersburg in preparation for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Armenia on Saturday, rumours have gone into overdrive that the Arsenal star may exit the London club.
Clubs in Spain and Turkey have also emerged as contenders for the midfielder’s signature, but Arshavin insists Wenger wants him to stay with Arsenal in the long term.
