Manchester United star Luis Nani has pleaded with Dimitar Berbatov to stay and fight for the Champions League trophy next season as the striker considers his future after not being selected for the Champions League final squad.

"I don't know what he has in mind but everyone knows he's a fantastic player,” Nani said.

"He has scored a lot of goals for us, finished as the top scorer in the league, and I would like him to play for Manchester United again next season.”

Despite scoring 20 goals in total this season, Berbatov has had trouble starting over Javier Hernandez, who pundits have argued forms a better partnership with Manchester United star striker Wayne Rooney.

The Bulgarian’s future remains uncertain after missing out on the Champions League final, though Nani hopes he will make the decision to stay at Old Trafford.

While speculation is rife over transfers of players in and out of Manchester United, Nani insists that the number one priority is keeping as many players from the title winning squad together as possible.

"I don't know which players will be coming in but most important is that the ones who stay and fight for us," Nani said.
