Sunderland have announced their pre-season plans for next season, and are heading to Germany on a three match tour.

The Black Cats will face third division Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday, 17th July, and then travel to Bundesliga outfit Hannover 96 on Wednesday, 20th July. Die Roten will provide Steve Bruce's side with a competitive clash, having finished fourth this season and qualified for the Europa League.

Borussia Mönchengladbach will provide the final fixture on the tour, with Sunderland travelling to the 54,000-capacity Borussia-Park on Saturday, 23rd July.

"I'm delighted with how our pre-season preparations are shaping up," the manager told Sunderland's official website.

"The facilities in Germany are excellent and we have some excellent games lined up against a variety of opposition. The time we'll spend over in Germany will be extremely valuable and I'm confident it'll provide the level of preparation we need.

"Every detail has been finely pored over and I'm looking forward to getting underway."

Bruce will be keen to build on this season's tenth place finish in the Barclays Premier League, and the trip to Germany will be seen as a potential foundation to future successes next term.
