Tyson rejects Forest offer

Nathan Tyson will leave Nottingham Forest this summer after turning down a new contract.

The 29-year-old striker will be a free agent and has recently been linked with moves to Derby, Ipswich and Millwall, although he is yet to make a decision on his future. Tyson's father and adviser Len on Monday claimed the player was upset with a "lack of respect" shown by the club over their offer of a new deal.

But Forest have now hit back, with chief executive Mark Arhur telling the club's official website: "Over the last season we have been in regular contact with Nathan's agent Andy Weekes and informed him we would be making an offer, in line with Football League regulations, when we knew what division we would be playing in next season."

He added: "In the fullness of time we did that but were subsequently told by Mr Weekes that he was no longer Nathan's agent and that the player's matters were being dealt with by by his father.

"Mr Len Tyson is neither an FA registered agent nor an FA registered close relative who can act for players on a non-charging basis.

"Despite this, Nathan's father has informed us that Nathan has rejected our contract offer."
