Chelsea and Liverpool will have to spend £12 million if they want to sign Ajax midfielder Vurnon Anita this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The Premier League duo were keen on bringing the Dutchman to the club at a cut price.

But now Chelsea and Liverpool may have to pay as much as £12 million for Anita, whose release clause in his contract has increased.

However, reports suggest that talks of the release clause being increased may be a tactic by Ajax to help get the most for their prized asset from potential suitors Chelsea and Liverpool.

Both hoping to re-vitalise their squads after disappointing season, Chelsea and Liverpool will both be able to tempt Anita, 22, with a side with genuine ambition to contest for the Premier League.
