Liverpool target Brad Friedel will reportedly join Tottenham this summer after rejecting a contract extension with Aston Villa.
According to the Mirror, the 40-year-old goalkeeper will opt to move to north London rather than Merseyside after the promise or regular first-team football at White Hart Lane.
Liverpool had shown a genuine interest in Friedel, it has been claimed, but the American is not interested in the idea of being a back-up to Pepe Reina.
He will instead move to Tottenham to replace error-prone Heurelho Gomes, with Spurs ready to offer him a two-year contract.
Gomes is expected to be sold during the summer after a number of gaffes last season led to Harry Redknapp finally losing patience with the Brazilian.
The Spurs boss has allegedly identified Friedel as a more reliable alternative to his current No.1, while Carlo Cudicini is also likely to remain at White Hart Lane.
Friedel has played almost 450 games in English football after joining Liverpool in 1997 and, since leaving Anfield, has gone on to play for Blackburn and, latterly, Villa.
