Ian Holloway has not given up hope of keeping striker DJ Campbell at Blackpool, as the side hitch a plan to work their way back into the Barclays Premier League.
“DJ is a terrific striker and at times he is unplayable,” Holloway said.
“It goes without saying I want him here next season, because I believe he can score goals at any level.
“His movement is second to none, and the way he works for the team in such a selfless manner is great. He is also a cracking lad and the kind of person you want in a dressing room.”
But Campbell has admitted that the Barclays Premier League may be too alluring for the striker to stay with the club in the npower Championship.
“I love Blackpool and we had a better season than many people expected but to go down was heartbreaking,” Campbell said, as reported by The Blackpool Gazette.
“I played in the Prem before with Birmingham, and maybe I wasn’t ready then. But this time I was.
“There’s nothing like playing at Old Trafford, Anfield and Stamford Bridge. Now I want more of it. I think I’ve proved I can play at the top.”
