Maxi Rodriguez has set Liverpool sights on a return to the Champions League next season.
The Reds enjoyed a remarkable revival after Kenny Dalglish returned to the club in January, but were unable to secure a place in Europe after finishing sixth in the Barclays Premier League.
Argentine international Maxi had struggled to make an impression for the Merseysiders under former boss Roy Hodgson, but enjoyed an individual resurgence towards the end of the season, scoring seven goals in five games including two hat-tricks against Birmingham and Fulham respectively.
“Personally, I’m very happy,” said the 30-year-old former Atletico Madrid winger told the Liverpool Daily Post.
“I finished the season with lots of goals but also the team’s performances were improved. The team did not start well but we almost turned it around to reach Europe.
"We must return to the Champions League next season.”
