Morecambe manager Jim Bentley has made his first two signings of the summer by landing Kevin Ellison and tying Will Haining down to a new deal.

Bentley, who replaced Sammy McIlroy in the hotseat at the Globe Arena last month, has moved quickly to bring in 32-year-old Ellison on a one-year deal following his release by Rotherham.

And Haining, who made 13 appearances for the Shrimps in the season just gone, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Bentley told the club`s official website: "I am delighted to have signed both players. They both offer a great deal of experience at this level and they are big characters to have around.

"When I took over, Will was was one of the first people I rang because he is a player I have always admired and wanted to stay on.

"Kevin is a left-sided player who I have had some great battles with over the years and he is a player I have also long admired."
