Wayne Brown has refused to speculate over talk that he is to take up a coaching role at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper has also denied speculation that he's joining Shrewsbury Town in Npower League Two, with the former Bury and Hereford United stopper looking to return to England after a season with Supersport United.

Close ties between the African side and Spurs, who brought Bongani Khumalo to White Hart Lane in January, has led to speculation on SkySports that the keeper could be moving to north London in a coaching capacity.

However, in an interview with the same website, Brown said that no club has made contact over a potential summer switch, with Tottenham Hotspur seeming to be the last thing on his mind.

"I've had a great experience playing and coaching in South Africa. When the opportunity came up last year I couldn't turn it down. While I thoroughly enjoyed it, it has been difficult for my family and I, and I felt I needed to be closer to home," said the stopper.

"I'm not sure anyone knows I am available - until your interview obviously! I have had initial discussions with clubs in Italy but we will see what happens. I am just going to enjoy my holiday and spend time with my family."

"There has been no contact with any club yet. I've only been back two days and am looking forward to spending time with my family first and foremost."

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has not spoken on the situation.
